MENTAL ILLNESS AND HEALTH
Mental illness is a disturbance in brain activity which causes an impaired ability to function in everyday life. Those suffering from mental illnesses may experience difficulties with their emotions, moods, behaviors, thought patterns, and perceptions.
Mental health includes subjective well-being, perceived self-efficacy, autonomy, competence, intergenerational dependence, and self-actualization of one’s intellectual and emotional potential according to the World Health Organization.
Someone struggling with mental health may experience stress, depression,
anxiety, relationship problems, grief, addiction, ADHD or learning disabilities,
mood disorders, or other psychological problems.
