The Coastal Haven program is a residential treatment program for youth who have experienced human trafficking, or who are at risk of trafficking.
Program Goals
Clients in the program develop a treatment plan with a clinician, and the clinician and program staff provide direction and interventions to help the youth achieve their short and long term goals.
Residents engaged in the Hanson House program are provided with Group Therapy five days each week, Individual Therapy at least once each week, and Family Therapy and Substance Abuse counseling on an as-needed or as prescribed basis.
The Hanson House operates on a Phase System, where clients are expected to complete treatment work and progress to higher phases of the program, that coincide with greater privileges and responsibilities.
The Hanson House program strives to maintain a homelike environment, and utilizes a Positive Peer Culture model to encourage youth to hold themselves and their peers accountable to each other and the program. Staff also implements the Transition to Independence Process model to support clients while they achieve their personal goals:
Improve the child’s overall functioning
Increase school success
Increase the likelihood of success at a lower level of care
Promote the child’s wellness, recovery, and resiliency
Help the child to develop and/or improve specific age-appropriate social behaviors
Develop and/or improve self-management skills that will support overall success
Help the child make better behavioral choices within their family, school, and community
Assisting the child in developing strategies for transitioning into adulthood, including
planning for continued education or employment
